De La Salle at St. Matthew’s is a unique middle school.
De La Salle serves students of the Greater Ville Neighborhood
and nearby North St. Louis neighborhoods. I am proud to say
that our program offers several components that set us apart
from other middle schools.
De La Salle provides:
--teachers and staff who are whole-heartedly devoted to the
school's Lasallian mission of providing a human, Catholic
education that touches both minds and hearts of the young
people entrusted to our care;
--small class sizes, averaging 10 students per core subject
class;
--multi-aged learning groups for core subjects that, in the
Lasallian tradition, meet the remedial or gifted needs of our
students;
--personalized education plans tracking interests, learning styles, progress, and goals of each student;
--an extended school day that provides exploratory, athletic, academic, and social skills programs until 5:30 in the evening;
--increased time for learning with approximately 1,800 school hours and more than 190 school days each year;
--a school-wide behavior management system that focuses on Christian values, emotional intelligence and reflective planning;
--a partnership with students' families that includes home visits by school staff, monthly school celebrations over breakfast or lunch, parent contracts, and monthly parent-teacher conferences;
--a graduate support program that supports DLS graduates, financially, academically, and socially, as graduates navigate the worlds of area high schools and universities.
I am proud of De La Salle's singularity, and I invite you to contact me to see, in person, what makes
De La Salle unique.
Sincerely,
Phil Pusateri
