Due to differences in individual development and gaps in their
previous educations, students arrive at De La Salle with different
knowledge bases. To address individual learning, rather than divide
students by grades, they are arranged into learning groups of eight
to twelve students. By grouping students in this way, teachers and
classmates can focus on learning specific knowledge and skills
with the appropriate pacing and depth.
Mixed-age grouping may be a lifeline to children at risk because it
encourages self-respect and creates a learning environment that
keeps students involved and motivated.
