Mission Statement

Rooted in the mission of Jesus and the Lasallian
tradition of making a quality education accessible, the urban
community of De La Salle Middle School at St. Matthew’s provides
excellence in education, promotes service with justice and respects
each individual in our daily pursuit of loving and learning.

Philosophy of Mission
The staff of De La Salle believes that the purpose of
education is to create learning experiences that are liberating and
empowering. This belief necessitates the education of the whole
person in his or her developmental needs. As a Catholic Christian
school we base our effort in the values of the Gospel and seek that
empowered sense of self for our students that comes from learning
and testing new skills and goals in the presence of strong mentoring,
support, and exposure to diverse Christian role models.

We, in partnership with parents and guardians, believe that each
student can excel in academics and in life regardless of
environmental influences, socioeconomic status, or race/ethnic background.
